Finding Flannel Project
What is The Finding Flannel Project?
Well i'm glad you asked! The Finding Flannel Project is something that has become near and dear to my heart... Every new project has zero expectations and zero plans going into it, no customer to please or limits to stick to. At the start of each new project, I come out with a series of polls that I put in my Instagram stories. In those polls, you guys get to help me narrow down quotes, colors, design ideas or new techniques that will go into the current project! To be honest, it's really just a fun way for me to stretch my creative muscles and just do something completely original and unplanned. It feels really good.
I always love to film lots of behind the scenes footage as i'm working and once the project is completed, we end up with a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art that I then raffle off to one of you guys! Depending on the size it's only $1-$2 per entry and I always give lots of ways to get bonus entries as well so if you really loved what we worked on together then you can have a chance to win that same piece. See below the projects we have finished so far, we are now on our third month and I can't wait to see what is next!
Make sure to follow me on Instagram and keep an eye on my stories if you want to take part in the polls for the next Finding Flannel Project. Stay toasty!
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder...
There's just something special about this first one. Our first poll determined that we were going to design the sign around the lyrics "I hope you never lose your sense of wonder" and somehow that lead to adding my first mountain mosaic, painting the northern lights, and adding a cute little camping scene to tie it all together. I also got to try wood burning for the first time on this piece, and just had the best time making it. It now has a new home, and if you'd like to see the behind the scenes video on how I made it, see the video below!
Barnwood and Flowers
Our second Finding Flannel Project took a different and much more delicate turn with this beautiful minimalistic flower piece. Let me tell ya, it took me pretty much forever and a day to finish this one because those flowers were so fragile, but I think it was certainly worth the wait. We finished this one off with a minimalistic frame that is flush with the backer and keeps the simple flowers in focus. Watch the behind the scenes video below!
